VanDerGinst Law Sponsors Trans Siberian Orchestra

Continuing its holiday tradition of "giving back" to the community, VanDerGinst Law sponsored two concerts on Saturday, December 13th performed by the world famous Trans Siberian Orchestra at the i-Wireless Center in Moline, IL. One dollar from each ticket purchased for the concerts went to the Genesis Compassion Fund which raises money for many causes with a focus on providing flu shots for children in area schools. The total amount raised from the two concerts was $19,683. Dennis VanDerGinst had the honor of introducing TSO, and together with a representative of the Genesis Foundation, accepted a check from band members Tony Gaynor and Tommy Farese.

VanDer"Grinch" Holiday Party Huge Success

Friday, December 12, VanDerGinst Law hosted the inaugural VanDer"Grinch" Holiday Party at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport, IA. Among the guests were members of local bar associations, judges and court personnel, client advocacy groups, union representatives, local medical treatment providers and various governmental officers. Well over 300 party goers reveled to music provided by RT Productions and the bands "Cosmic" and "Funktastic 5".

VanDerGinst Named To National Advisory Board

Dennis VanDerGinst has been selected to serve on the National Advisory Board for the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. AITLA is a national association of committed lawyers who have joined together to eliminate unsafe and illegal interstate trucking practices. Through combined efforts in education, litigation and legislation the AITLA is working to make American highways safer for families, clients and all Americans.

VanDerGinst Law Sponsors "Holiday on the Hill"

On Dec. 6th VanDerGinst Law sponsored "Holiday on the Hill" at the Putnam Museum in Davenport, Ia. It was an opportunity for area children to do fun crafts and have photos taken with Santa Claus free of charge. Children and adults alike immensely enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy traditional Christmas festivities.

VanDerGinst Law Sponsors Parade

VanDerGinst Law was one of the primary sponsors for the Quad City Arts Festival of Trees Parade, held on November 22nd in Davenport, Ia. The parade is the largest helium balloon parade in the world, even exceeding Macy's in number of balloons. Over 70,000 people lined the streets along the parade route, braving near freezing temperatures. For the second year in a row Dennis VanDerGinst was one of three parade marshals selected to lead the parade. The law firm also sponsored a brand new balloon this year, "Judge George", which was escorted along the parade by staff and friends.

VanDerGinst Law, P.C. Welcomes New Attorney

Tabitha Young

Attorney Tabitha Young has recently joined VanDerGinst Law. She will be working primarily in the civil litigation department of the firm. Ms. Young received her B.A. degree in History from Boston University where she also spent time studying International Law in London. She obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in California where she also worked as a research assistant. Additionally, she has worked as an extern to Judge Robert P. Applegate of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Ms. Young is licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois and will soon gain admission in the states of California and Iowa.

Boo at the Zoo

VanDerGinst Law was proud to sponsor BOO AT THE ZOO at the Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley, IL. On Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of October. Thousands of costumed kids, parents and grandparents flooded the zoo and gathered goodies from dozens of vendor participants. Staff and attorneys from VanDerGinst Law were on hand to share in the festivities. The giraffes, elephants and other animal residents were also there to participate in the festivities!

Dennis VanDerGinst recently spoke at the Rock Island County Bar Association's fall seminar. His presentation was titled "Anatomy of a Mass Tort". In his presentation he distinguished "mass torts" from "class actions", addressed the "Class Action Fairness Act", outlined the practical and legal considerations relevant to mass tort litigation and discussed the impact of recent Supreme Court decisions relative to federal preemption as a practical defense to mass tort claims.
